Bristol Zoological Gardens in the UK is getting a name-change as a result of a sponsorship deal involving Sanlam UK, part of South Africa-listed financial services business .

The zoo will be now known as Sanlam Gorilla Island.

The wealth management house, which has been ramping up its business presence in the UK in recent years, is aiming to promote the cause of saving endangered gorillas and highlight its own steps to become a more sustainable business.

The firm also hopes to generate support for Bristol Zoo’s conservation projects across West Africa with the sponsorship, and raise awareness for the zoo’s “Access to Nature” programme. The project is designed to provide hands-on education experience for communities who do not have the financial resources to visit the zoo on their own.

Sanlam UK has more than £9 billion ($12.7 billion) in assets.
