London-listed has hired Peter Cooke from rival Brewin Dolphin and Sandy McPherson from Menzies Wealth Management. Cooke has been appointed portfolio manager within the firm's Wimborne office. In his new role, he will provide support on portfolio asset allocation, stock/fund selection and the monitoring of investments. “Peter’s knowledge and experience of the markets should prove a valuable addition to our expanding office and will ensure we maintain our high levels of customer service and investment performance,” said Charles Stanley's Wimborne branch manager, David Holmes. McPherson joins as a financial planning and wealth management consultant in Southampton. He was previously a financial planner in Menzies Wealth Management's Solent and Farnborough offices. “We are increasingly seeing clients looking for both financial planning advice and investment management solutions and Sandy’s appointment will help boost our integrated service offering,” said Robert Gofton-Salmond, head of wealth management and private client financial planning in Charles Stanley’s Southampton office. Meanwhile, Charles Stanley has seen three departures, on which it declined to comment. Raj Shah, who joined the firm as investment manager in 2012 from Brown Shipley, has left the Manchester office. Financial planner Celia Mason has left the Ipswich office after three years to set up her own wealth management business. Lastly, Gillian Fleming, who has worked at Charles Stanley since 2007, is also exiting the business.
