Coutts & Co Trustees (Jersey) Appoints Former UK Cabinet Minister As Chairman

Coutts & Co Trustees (Jersey) has appointed former senior UK cabinet minister and luminary in the private banking world Lord William Waldegrave as its chairman and non-executive director. He is also currently chairman of Coutts & Co.

Lord Waldegrave of North Hill – to give his full title - has a wide academic, political and business background. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and went on to attend Harvard University on a Kennedy Scholarship. He is a distinguished fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and was appointed the provost of Eton College in 2009.  Political posts included cabinet posts between 1990 and 1997 as secretary of state for health, secretary of state for agriculture, chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and chief secretary to the treasury. He entered the House of Lords in 1999 and from 2000 to 2003 was president of the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee.

He has since served as vice chairman of UBS Investment Bank and as chairman of the global financial institutions group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Most recently, Lord Waldegrave served as a non-executive director at Fleming Family & Partners. He is also the chairman of .

This latest announcement follows appointments of Naomi Rive as chief trust officer, Fiona Whitehead as head of new business, Miles Le Cornu as head of private client services, David Thompson as head of fiduciary investments and Debbie Se bire as non-executive director to the Jersey trust business.
