7 August 2008

Barclays Wealth has appointed John Williams as a director within its Wealth Advisory business.  He starts in November 2008 and will join the Advisory and Financial Solutions team, working with Stuart Chapell.

He joins Barclays Wealth from UBS Wealth Management in the UK where he was an executive director; working for seven years in their wealth planning team. Mr Williams’ position is a newly created role which will focus primarily on working with private bankers to provide structured solutions, but also include responsibilities for client engagement and product development.

At UBS, he managed the team responsible for the business’s life and pensions platform, advised high net worth individuals on all areas of financial planning and developed the strategy for new products and services.

Immediately prior to UBS, Mr Williams spent four years as a Financial Planning Manager with Kleinwort Benson Financial Services, with responsibility for new business development, managing existing client relationships and technical support in all areas of financial planning.

Advisory and Financial Solutions is the non-fiduciary area of the Barclays Wealth Advisory business. It develops, sources, markets and implements structured solutions for Barclays Wealth clients, with a focus on products where an understanding of regulatory legal and tax matters is important to the client.
