Barclays to Sponsor Top US Golfer

Barclays Bank is to sponsor the world’s second-highest ranking golfer, Phil Mickelson, for a multi-year contract. The size of the deal was not disclosed. Mr Mickelson, a left-handed US player who has won golfing majors such as the US Masters tournament in Augusta, said: "I'm proud to continue my personal and professional relationship with Barclays by becoming a part of its effort to support golf around the world." He is also a client of Barclays Wealth, the wealth management arm of the UK banking group, Barclays said in a statement. The bank already sponsors the Barclays Scottish Open on the European Tour, the Barclays Singapore Open on the Asian Tour and The Barclays, the first of four tournaments on the PGA Tour's end of season Playoff series for the FedExCup. Barclays also sponsors other sporting events and personalities, including English football's Premier League.
