Carne Global Financial Services Group, the Dublin-based independent fund consultancy, has launched a Directorship Programme for sourcing independent non-executive fund directors to provide oversight and expertise to fund managers. Carne has set up a 12-strong panel of directors who are available to serve as independent directors of companies domiciled in Ireland, Luxembourg, UK, the Cayman Islands, Jersey, Guernsey and other offshore locations. The panel's members specialise in a wide range of funds and related management companies, including hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, UCITS III funds, property funds, private equity funds, multi-manager funds and funds of funds. They are also able to advise on corporate governance techniques, compliance and regulations, accounting and valuation of financial instruments, product development and derivative risk management. Carne chief executive John Donohoe said: "Independent oversight is an essential element of fund management to ensure good governance. It is in the interests of investors, regulators, and fund managers alike, and the fund management industry as a whole, that fund managers are able to display the highest standards of supervision over their fund products and compliance with applicable laws.”
