Ambitious Plans for Chiltern Tax Spin-Off

Three former Chiltern executives have joined the US firm Alvarez & Marshal to launch a new UK tax business. The new operation, which is located in Canary Wharf, plans to be Britain's largest independent tax-only practice within three years. The three - former Chiltern chief executive David Pert, ex-head of transfer pricing, Shiv Mahalingham and head of corporate tax Kevin Hindley - will be managing partners in the A&M UK practice. The three left Chiltern days before it was sold to the UK's sixth largest accountancy BDO Stoy Hayward. Mr Pert told WealthBriefing: "There is real determination that there will be an independent tax only practice in the UK. A&M's 120 professionals across Europe will provide serious support in the set up phase. We are recruiting actively and Taxand's member firms are also providing significant backing." The new business says it has client contracts and has started operations. Chiltern was taken over by BDO in October.
