Florida-Based Bank Appoints Wealth Management Executive

Florida-headquartered Ocean Bank has hired Manuel del Cañal as executive vice president of the firm’s wealth management division.

del Cañal has worked across retail, international and business banking with some of Florida’s largest institutions. Prior to joining Ocean Bank, he served as senior vice president and business banking manager for the Miami-Dade county at BankUnited, having previously held the position as senior vice president in retail sales and international private banking.

Earlier, he worked for SunTrust as first vice president of international trust and investments.

“Manuel’s experience in many aspects of banking will be a terrific asset for our growing community of high net worth clients,” said Ocean Bank’s president and chief executive, Alfonso Macedo.

Ocean Bank is an independent, state-chartered commercial bank with $3.34 billion in assets as of June 30, 2013. The firm has 21 branches throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties and said that this recent hire will support its growing wealth management division.
