StanChart's Private Bank Names Ex-Societe Generale Veteran To Senior Asia Post

Standard Chartered Private Bank has appointed Stephen So as head of investment advisory for North East Asia, effective immediately. He previously spent 18 years at Société Générale.
Standard Chartered Private Bank has appointed Stephen So as
head of investment advisory for North East Asia,
effective immediately. He previously spent 18 years at Société
Générale where
he held various management roles covering product development,
sales and
marketing in private banking and other divisions.
So will be based in Hong Kong
and reports to Gary Tiernan, global head of investment advisory
and client
segment management at the private bank. He also reports to
Desmond Liu, managing
director/head of private bank for Hong Kong and North East
Asia.
While at the private banking side of
Societe Generale, So was
regional head of structured solutions, responsible for
structuring, advice and
delivery of structured products to private banking clients. Prior
to that, he
had worked at Barclays and Merrill Lynch.
Headquartered in Singapore, the
Standard Chartered Private Bank has
over 1,200 employees, including about 450 relationship managers
globally. It
has 19 offices including two trust offices in 15 cities across
Asia, Africa,
Middle East and Europe.
In 2012, the private bank’s revenue increased by 12 per cent
and its assets under management grew by 17 per cent in Asia
– its most important market - and 14 per cent globally.
