Coutts, one of the private banking businesses of the Royal Bank of Scotland, has launched its new current account card, designed by Stella McCartney. Available for new and existing clients, the card sits beside the Coutts World super premium charge card designed in 2004 by Ozwald Boateng. The design aims to combine the intricacies found on banknotes and on the Coutts cheque book with aspects of the British countryside. Echoing the watermark on a banknote, a translucent Coutts signature has been created for the card that can be seen when held up to the light. Chris Wilson, closely involved at Coutts with the design, said that reactions from clients had been very positive, reinforcing the belief that the new design was a good reflection of the Coutts brand values of tradition combined with attention to detail.
