Citi Private Bank has appointed Ary Velasco as a director and ultra high net worth private banker at its office in Miami, Florida.

Velasco is joining from Sabadell Bank & Trust in Miami, where he was a senior vice president and wealth management director. He joined Lydian Bank & Trust in 2007, which went on to be acquired by Sabadell last year. Before Lydian, he worked for five years at Northern Trust in Miami as trust business development officer.

"We are already a trusted advisor to some of the wealthiest individuals and families throughout Florida and we remain focused on growing our business here further," said Paul Hubert, eastern regional manager at Citi Private Bank.

In related news, in August the firm reinforced its New York office, bringing in director and ultra high net worth private banker Steven Young from Deutsche Bank. Young had been with Deutsche for five years as a managing director and senior private banker.
