Brewin Dolphin has bolstered its Jersey-based discretionary portfolio management team with the appointment of Dennis Phillips as a divisional director.

Phillips joins from Ashburton’s Jersey office, where he had been an investment director overseeing the firm’s bespoke portfolio service – an offering he developed and had managed since 2002. He joined Ashburton in 1995 from Banque Belge Asset Management in Guernsey, where he had been a director and head of investment since 1992.

In another major hire for Brewin, May saw Andrew Westenberger appointed as group finance director, effective from the start of next year, when Robin Bayford will step down after more than two decades in the role.

Westenberger was finance director at Evolution Group between 2009 and August last year. He was also a director of Evolution's former wealth management subsidiary Williams de Broe, which is now owned by Investec. From 2000 to 2008, he worked for Barclays Capital in various finance roles in London and New York.
