RBS Launches China Desk In The UK

The Royal Bank of Scotland has opened an office in London to tap Chinese investors wanting to expand their businesses internationally.

The new office is modelled on the launch of the India desk in January and aims to help firms across the UK and Europe transact with the world's second largest economy. The China desk will be led by Janet Ming, who most recently served as head of corporate sales for The Royal Bank of Scotland China in Shanghai. Ming will relocate to London to take on the role as head of China desk.

China is touted to become one of the largest trade partners of the European Union and the new desk is expected to leverage the firm's reach with Chinese clients looking to invest in the EU area. The China desk will offer support across the market, including regulatory insight and product guidance.

The move also complements the UK's efforts to build up London as an offshore renminbi trading hub.
