Carey Olsen, the law firm based in the Channel Islands, has promoted Robert Milner and Simon Marks to the status of partner in the Jersey corporate and finance practice area, with the group, which now includes 12 partners.

“Robert and Simon have made significant contributions to the success of the firm and we’re certain they will go on to even greater success as partners,” said Alex Ohlsson, managing partner in Jersey.

Specialising in finance and fund structures, Milner focuses on vehicles aimed at institutional and sophisticated investors. Furthermore, he advises an international clients base and lenders where property-holding structures involve Jersey vehicles.

Miller, who joined Carey Olsen in Jersey in 2005, established the first Jersey unregulated fund limited partnership and has established a number of funds.

Marks, who joined the firm in Jersey in 2006, focuses on structured finance, corporate and tax law. He has acted on a range of corporate and structured transactions for clients from global institutions and local businesses. Marks has also been involved with a number of legislative proposals in the island, the firm said.

“Their expertise will further strengthen our top tier corporate and finance practice group,” Ohlsson said.
