HSBC Private Bank has bolstered its UK investment advisory business with a trio of hires from Clariden Leu, Citi Private Bank and Bank of America. The firm said the appointments reflect increasing demand for both its advisory and discretionary management services post-2008.

HSBC Private Bank has added two advisors and a counsellor to its investment advisory business in the UK, hiring from Clariden Leu, Citi Private Bank and Bank of America, the bank said today.

Anna Blomqvist and Mark Winterburn have been hired as investment advisors, reporting to Suzanne Spink, director, while Clare Huijnen joins as an investment counsellor, reporting to Henry Pott, associate director, the bank said in a statement.

Ms Blomqvist most recently worked at Bank of America, and launched and built up the bank’s US Equities business in Scandinavia, HSBC said. She also has more than 12 years of institutional sales and capital markets experience at Merrill Lynch International and Bank of America Securities.

Mr Winterburn joins from Citi Private Bank were he worked for five years as an investment counsellor covering high and ultra-high net worth clients both onshore and offshore. He began his career in private banking with Brown Shipley & Co in 2003.

Ms Huijnen will work with HSBC Private Bank’s regional offices. She joins the team from Clariden Leu where she spent 12 years in the portfolio management unit of the investment business, advising relationship managers and clients about all aspects of their portfolios.

“Post 2008, we are seeing increasing demand for both our advisory and discretionary management services as investors seek more advice on constructing fully diversified portfolios,” said Suzanne Spink, director, HSBC Private Bank (UK).
