Schroders
Schroders Singapore, in partnership with Krungsri Asset
Management, has launched a private equity fund aimed at
ultra-wealthy individuals in Thailand.
The Krungsri Global Private Equity Fund will invest through the
Schroder GAIA II Global Private Equity Fund, which serves as the
master fund, Schroders said in a
statement yesterday.
The fund focuses on small-mid cap specialist opportunities across
the US and Europe as well as Asian growth companies.
The master fund will invest directly in non-listed companies with
a coverage of primary and secondary markets. It also focuses on
five sectors – healthcare, technology, digital consumer-related,
business services and industrials, and will invest in order to
obtain exposure to a range of private equity strategies,
including venture capital, growth capital, buyout and financing
for special situations. Environmental, social and governance
considerations have also been factored into the investment
process.
Investing in the KFGPE-UI can also be an alternative for UHNW
investors whose criteria meet the regulations of the Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC), Thailand to participate in private
equity investment with institutional investors, Schroders
said.
The fund has raised over $14 million in IPO, with the
minimum required investment being 1 million baht.
“We have witnessed accelerated growth in Thailand over the past
decade, with the investment landscape growing more sophisticated.
There is a greater demand for differentiating products amongst
local investors to diversify their investment portfolio,” Arthit
Thongchareon, head of Thailand Business, Schroders, said. “Our
partnership with Krungsri Asset Management is a pivotal step for
Schroders, enabling us to be one of the first global asset
managers to offer a private asset fund to UHNW investors in
Thailand, and serve as a catalyst to drive the growing PE
investment landscape in the country.”
