Leo Wealth Hires Former BNY Mellon WM Figure As Investment Director

Leo Wealth, which currently oversees circa $4.5 billion in client assets, was formed from a merger between companies with footprints in the US and Asia.

Leo Wealth, the international wealth firm borne out of a recent merger, has named Jason Gibbons as investment director for Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Gibbons will join the firm’s global investment team and report to Harmen Overdijk, global chief investment officer. He will be responsible for providing strategic investment advice, portfolio management services and multi-asset class views to the firm’s Asian clients. He specialises in asset allocation, alternative investments, and thematic research.

Gibbons previously worked at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, where he spent 11 years as client portfolio manager, working with private clients and high net worth families. He was responsible for managing the firm’s Asian clients’ discretionary portfolios and providing asset allocation guidance.

Originally from the US, Gibbons spent the last eight years in Hong Kong supporting a diverse range of HNW clients. He is a graduate of Penn State University and a CFA Charterholder.

“With our recent merger to become Leo Wealth, we bring international wealth solutions which integrate portfolio and asset management with international tax and estate planning all under one roof. Jason’s expertise and investment acumen [will] add to our deep bench of experts and professionals across our Hong Kong and US offices,” Harmen Overdijk, chief investment officer, Leo Wealth, Hong Kong, said.

Leo Wealth, which has offices in Hong Kong, New York City, New Jersey and Dallas Fort Worth, currently oversees circa $4.5 billion in client assets with a team of 45 wealth management professionals. Leo Wealth was formed from a merger between The Capital Company, a business with a strong Asian footprint that recently merged with US firms LeoGroup and BFT Financial. This publication recently interviewed The Capital Company about its services to expats.
