Digital Digest: Temenos Launches New Crypto Capabilities

The latest developments in technology services, products and trends around the world.

In a bid to simplify access to the booming digital assets space, fintech heavyweight Temenos has partnered with fellow Swiss provider Taurus to integrate new digital asset and blockchain solutions.

The partnership follows the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) recently granting Taurus a licence to operate as an independent marketplace for digital assets. It also comes as more HNW clients are demanding greater access to digital currencies and flexible management within one platform.

“Investors are increasingly aware of the performance of cryptocurrencies, which can effectively participate in the diversification of a portfolio. But other applications of blockchain technology, such as tokenised securities, have the potential to transform the value chain with simpler issuance procedures, greater liquidity and real-time settlement," Alexandre Duret, product director at Temenos, said.

The tools will be available through the Temenos MarketPlace, giving the firm's roughly 3,000 banking and institutional clients a range of custodial services as well as speeding innovation for those wanting to create their own tokenised products, the group said.
