Barclays Hires New Wealth Management CEO

A high-profile female wealth management executive in a male-dominated profession is retiring.

Barclays has appointed Dirk Klee as the new chief executive for savings, investments and wealth management, effective September 2018, and taking over from  Dena Brumpton,who has announced she is retiring from a position held since March. 

Klee was most recently chief operating officer for private banking at UBS Group. Prior to UBS, he was BlackRock's CEO in Germany.

Brumpton, a high-profile female wealth executive in a male-dominated profession, joined Barclays in 2015 as CEO of Barclays Wealth & Investments. She previously worked for Citibank for 30 years, most recently holding the post of COO.

In June, this publication reported that Barclays had appointed Steven Penketh as chief operating officer of Barclays International, the business that houses private banking and overseas services.
