The firm will now begin searching for someone to fill the gap.

Close Brothers’ group finance director Jonathan Howell is stepping down from his role after a decade as he is leaving the company to “pursue the next stage of his career”.

Preben Prebensen, group chief executive, said: “Jonathan has made a very substantial contribution during a period of significant growth and development, driving the group’s financial strategy and bringing
