Bedrock Steps Up Swiss, International Business Drive With Zurich Office

The firm has created a new office in Zurich, led by a former Coutts and Morgan Stanley executive.

Bedrock, the European wealth management house, has opened a Zurich office, adding to its existing Swiss presence in Geneva. The Geneva team is led by former Coutts senior banker Alexander Classen, who joined Bedrock last year, as previously reported.

The Zurich team will focus on further growing Bedrock’s businesses in Switzerland and in international markets, especially Europe and the Middle East, it said in a statement today.

The team also includes Stefan Muelheim and Konstantin Panoussopoulos; both recently joined Bedrock as Partners focussing on client relationship management.

Further hires are planned for the Zurich operation, Classen said.

An experienced figure, Classen brings more than 25 years of experience in the sector. He joined Bedrock in 2016; At Coutts & Co, where he was CEO, head of international. From 2006 to 2010, he was head of private wealth management for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Morgan Stanley International, London. Prior to this, Classen held the role of general manager at Goldman Sachs Bank AG Zurich, having previously spent five years as regional chief executive of Pictet Asia Private Limited in Singapore. Alexander started his career in 1985 at Pictet & Cie, Geneva.

Muelheim comes from Runa Partners, a single-family office, where he was managing partner. He has over 30 years of experience in the asset management, wealth management and capital markets businesses. From 1998 to 2009, he was Head of Citi Germany for equities, fixed income and alternative investments, as well as member of its board. 

Panoussopoulos has more than 20 years of experience in investment advisory and banking. He joined Bedrock in 2017 from UBS Wealth Management, where he served as a managing director from 2010 to 2016, covering ultra-high net worth groups in global emerging markets. Prior to that, he managed the “GoldenEnergy Capital” private market fund as a MP and acted as CEO and vice chairman at the “SouthEastern Energy Capital” private equity fund.
