A consultancy firm featuring some of the biggest names in the US policymaking and and security world has linked up with a UK-based investment house.

RWC Partners, the UK-based investment house has set up an advisory relationship with a strategic consultancy business led by a quartet of some of the most powerful US national security and foreign policy officials of recent times.

Led by RWC’s emerging and frontier markets team led by John Malloy and James Johnstone, RWC has entered an advisory relationship with RiceHadleyGates LLC. The business is led by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and former State Department official Anja Manuel. RHG will provide strategic input on political and structural market developments to augment the team's top down macro views, a statement from RWC yesterday said.

The investment firm created its emerging and frontier market investment team under Malloy and Johnstone mid-way through 2015. The 17-person investment team joined from Everest Capital and now manages more than $2 billion. The team combines top-down macro and bottom-up fundamental insights. RWC Global Emerging Market andRWC Asia Absolute Alpha Funds were launched in December 2015 and May 2016 respectively.

Earlier in the year, RWC Partners launched a UCITS version of its Asia long/short equity strategy. The firm’s Global Innovation Absolute Alpha Fund changed its name to RWC Asia Absolute Alpha Fund. That rebranded sits in the firm's Luxembourg SICAV UCITS range, replicating an Asia long/short equity strategy that RWC launched in April 2015.
