Edmond de Rothschild Appoints Head Of Responsible Investment

The asset management arm of Switzerland's Edmond de Rothschild has hired an ESG expert.

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management has hired Jean-Philippe Desmartin as head of the responsible investment team.

Desmartin has been head of environment, social and governance research at Oddo Securities since 2005. In 2004, he founded his own consultancy business, Desmartin Conseil, and before that, he served as a director at Innovest.

He is a member of several working groups and international committees seeking to further ESG issues, including the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies, International Corporate Governance Network, Principles for Responsible Investment and World Intellectual Capital Initiative. Desmartin also chairs the research commission at the French Forum pour l’Investissement Responsable.

Based in Paris, he will report to chief investment officer, Philippe Uzan. 

The Edmond de Rothschild Group had €150 billion ($168 billion) under management as at 31 December 2015, of which the asset management division looked after €53 billion.
