LGIM Appoints New Chief Operating Officer

The UK investment house has a new chief operating officer.

Legal & General Investment Management has appointed Michael Marks as chief operating officer, reporting to Mark Zinkula, the organisation’s chief executive. He joins the firm at the end of June.

Marks joins after 28 years at BlackRock, the US-listed asset management house.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Marks replaces Simon Thompson, who left the firm at the beginning of February to take a sabbatical from the industry.

LGIM oversaw £757 billion ($1.1 billion) in assets under management as of the end of December 2015.
