Standard Life Wealth Boosts Charity Expertise With Brown Shipley Hire

The wealth arm of London-listed Standard Life has added to its charity investment team.

Standard Life Wealth has hired Gair Brisbane from Brown Shipley as senior client portfolio manager in Edinburgh.

Brisbane previously specialised in charity investment management at Brown Shipley Private Bank. Before that, he worked at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, managing portfolios for both charity and private clients. He was also a regional director for the Royal Air Forces Association charity.

Reporting to Mike Connor, head of the firm's Edinburgh office, Brisbane will be responsible for managing investment portfolios for charity clients.

"We have ambitious plans to grow our charity business and Gair is an excellent addition to the team given his first-hand knowledge of the investment and governance issues facing charities," said Connor.

Standard Life Wealth, which has offices in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds, and an offshore presence in the Channel Islands, serves private clients, trust companies and charities. Last year, it generated net flows of £200 million ($286 million) while assets under administration increased from £6.1 billion to £6.5 billion during the year.
