Carey Olsen Unveils Litigation Practice In British Virgin Islands

Carey Olsen has expanded its litigation offering to the British Virgin Islands.
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has launched a litigation and insolvency practice in the British Virgin Islands.
The new arm adds to the firm's offshore litigation presence, which is already established in the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey. It will be led by Ben Mays, who joins the firm as partner and head of BVI litigation.
Mays, who has worked offshore for over a decade both in the Cayman Islands and the BVI, brings with him expertise in complex contentious and non-contentious cross-border insolvency. His appointment brings the number of partners in Carey Olsen's global litigation practice to 13.
“The launch of our BVI litigation and insolvency arm is an important development both for our clients and the firm as we grow the practice internationally,” said the firm's BVI managing partner, Clinton Hempel.
The BVI office opened in 2013 to offer services on commercial transactions, investment funds and offshore structures.
