International law firm Withers has brought in a senior figure from the private banking and family office world as a partner at its Zurich office.

Withers, the international law firm, has hired the former head of UK family office at Stonehage, David McLellan, as a partner in its Zurich office.

McLellan is an expert in international tax planning and trust structuring. Besides Stonehage, he has held senior executive roles at Rothschild Trust Group and Baker & McKenzie. He has worked in Switzerland since 1998. He is qualified to practice in both the state of Victoria, Australia, and England and Wales. Before his Stonehage role, he has worked as group CEO of Rothschild Trust Group in Switzerland, and in Baker & McKenzie's Zurich office, including launching and acting as chief operating officer at the LawInContext database service.

Withers opened its Geneva office in 2005, adding an office in Zurich in 2011. The offices provide US, UK, Russian and cross-border international legal advice on tax and trust matters as well as strategic advice corporate tax and US tax compliance advice.
