Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? - Tilney, Morningstar, Collas Crill, Others

The latest moves in wealth management across Europe and the Middle East.

Tilney
UK private investment management group Tilney has appointed Chris Moore as an associate investment director. Moore will join the team in the company’s Birmingham office. Prior to this, Moore was an investment manager at Smith & Williamson, starting there in 2010. Previously, he worked at Personal Touch Financial Services and Andersen Charnley (now part of Cannacord Genuity Wealth Management).

Morningstar
Morningstar, the investment research house, has appointed Paul Malone as UK chief executive and west EMEA regional leader, with immediate effect.

Malone, who most recently served as Morningstar’s head of UK sales and business development, will lead the company’s strategy for the UK, South Africa, and the Middle East. He joined Morningstar in 2009 as vice president of sales and business development for institutional software.

Collas Crill
Offshore law firm Collas Crill has promoted several associates across its global dispute resolution teams to meet a high demand for litigators in the area.

In the Channel Islands, Ben Havard in Guernsey, and Simon Hurry in Jersey, have been promoted from senior associates to partners. Havard advises on contentious and semi-contentious trust matters, working primarily with multi-nationals and overseas-based ultra wealthy families. Hurry specialises in high-value commercial litigation, insolvency and contentious trust matters.

At the firm’s Cayman office, Farrah Sbaiti moves from associate to senior associate. She joined Collas Crill from another Cayman law firm in August 2018, and brings extensive court experience on a range of commercial and corporate litigation and insolvency issues. Sbaiti was admitted to the Cayman Islands’ Bar in January 2016 after training in London.

Rocco Cecere also joined the Cayman team as counsel. The offshore commercial litigator specialises in international insolvency and restructuring, often involving fraud and asset tracing.

The firm said that its teams in Guernsey, Jersey, Cayman and the BVI have grown by at least 25 per cent in the last 12 months.

“While some firms are reporting dwindling levels of litigation, the lion's share of our growth over the last few years has been in litigation and dispute resolution,” said Christian Hay, partner and head of the Guernsey dispute resolution practice.

Adams Street Partners
Adams Street Partners, a private markets investment house, has appointed Mattias de Beau as a partner.

De Beau joins the firm’s primary investments team and concentrates on sourcing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and managing private equity fund manager relationships throughout Europe. He is based in the firm’s London office and reports to Sergey Sheshuryak, partner on the primary investments team.

With more than 15 years in private equity and related fields, de Beau previously co-headed EMEA investment activities covering primary, secondary and co-investment opportunities in London for the StepStone Group. Earlier, de Beau was a principal at London’s Greenpark Capital, which was acquired by StepStone in 2013. He began his career as a private equity analyst at Lehman Brothers in London.

De Beau earned an MSc in business administration while majoring in finance at the Stockholm University School of Business. Before that, he served as a sergeant with the Amphibious Battalion of the Swedish Marines. (He is an example of a trend of former military personnel who have transitioned to the wealth management arena.)

Natixis Investment Managers

Tielkemeijer will be responsible for leading portfolio analysis and advisory services for clients in the UK, Netherlands and Nordic region. He will report to Julien Dauchez, head of consultants and the Dynamic Solutions team, and will be based in London.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Dynamic Solutions as we continue to expand our advisory franchise, providing insight and solutions to help clients construct in a variety of market conditions.  Joachem has a wide range of expertise working with both client and sales teams and I believe he will be a great addition to the team,” group head Dauchez said.
