Waverton Poaches Cabinet Office Commercial Specialist For COO Role

This is a newly-created role in the London-headquartered firm.

Waverton Investment Management, a UK firm, has hired Mark Harrison, previously of the Cabinet Office in the UK civil service, as its chief operating officer.

Harrison was a senior commercial specialist at the Cabinet Office, responsible for the relationship with a major government supplier. He has over 30 years’ financial services experience in executive management, consultancy and advisory roles, specialising in IT, operations and change management. Harrison began his career at Andersen Consulting and he has since held senior executive positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan Cazenove, investment management firm AMP and EFG Bank. He has also worked in an advisory capacity for the Bank of England, fund manager QIC in Australia and Hermes Investment Management.

As COO, Harrison will drive the development of Waverton’s operating and client servicing capability.

“He is unquestionably one of the most experienced practitioners in the industry. He will be an invaluable asset for Waverton and will play an important role in supporting the continued growth of the business,” said Andrew Fleming, chief executive at Waverton.

Waverton had approximately £5.1 billion ($6.3 billion) of assets under management as at 31 December 2016.
