US-Registered Investment Advisor Hires 23-Strong Team In Biggest Addition So Far

A large US registered investment advisor (RIA) firm has brought in the largest team of people to its business in its history, a sign of continued change and movement in this part of the market.

United Capital Financial Advisers has recruited a 23-person team across Denver and Arizona from Capital Investment Counsel, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Compass Bank.

The move marks the opening of United Capital’s 58th and 59th offices.

While at CIC, the team managed over $2 billion in assets under management across 1,600 relationships, with an average household having around $1.3 million in investable assets.

The new team is led by four former CIC principals: Stephen Dreiling, Jason Rosener, Chris Johnson and Brian McDowell, who now serve as managing directors at United Capital.

Meanwhile, another eight former CIC employees will join as wealth advisors, nine will serve in operations roles and three will continue their investment management duties. Each new hire is being compensated via cash and/or equity in United Capital.

United Capital is an RIA with approximately $13 billion in assets under management.
