US Investor Confidence Edged Up In March - Spectrem

According to the Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index, by Chicago-based Spectrem Group, investor confidence advanced four points in March to -6. This marks the eighth straight neutral reading for the millionaire index.

In addition, the Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index fell two points in March to -12. The affluent index looks at the investment confidence and outlook of households with $500,000 or more in investable assets.

The survey also asked an open-ended question on the most serious threat toward achieving financial goals. The affluent investors cited the following areas: the economy (26 per cent), the political climate (25 per cent), unemployment (12 per cent), health-related issues (6 per cent), market conditions (4 per cent) and inflation (2 per cent).

Millionaire investors expressed more concern over the economy (28 per cent) and the political climate (27 per cent).

The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index is based on 250 monthly interviews with the financial decision makers of households with $500,000 or more investable assets. The millionaire index is a subset of the overall survey group.
