UK Investment Manager Hires Compliance Head

UK-based investment manager Martin Currie has appointed Brendan Bryce as global head of advisory compliance within its risk and compliance team.

Mr Bryce will be acting as global compliance counsel to a number of areas within the business and represent the firm internationally with regulators and relevant industry associations. He will be based in Edinburgh and will report to Jacqui Hughes, director and head of risk and compliance.

Mr Bryce joins the firm from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a director in risk assurance services. He has over 14 years of experience in managing independent audit and assurance services to financial institutions in Scotland, London and the US and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

"We have a strong compliance team and culture within Martin Currie to which he [Mr Bryce] will add further depth and experience. His appointment underscores our risk control and compliance culture throughout our global business and we look forward to benefitting from his knowledge and experience as we continuously improve our processes,” said Willie Watt, the firm’s chief executive.

In other recent hires, earlier this month the firm appointed Ee Fang Chen as business development director for Asia.
