UK Asset Manager Giant Hires New Chief Economist

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, the UK-based fund manager with £137 billion ($216 billion) of assets, has appointed Dr Lucy O’Carroll as its chief economist. She previously worked at Lloyds Banking Group, the bank which is the parent of SWIP.
In her new job, Dr O’Carroll reports to Ken Adams, head of global strategy at SWIP.
At Lloyds Banking Group, Dr O’Carroll was senior economist for the past two years, where she reported to Patrick Foley, its chief economist. Prior to this, she was senior research director for HBOS Treasury. Dr O'Carroll has also held other senior economist roles at RBS and Bank of England, as well as spending two years as a lecturer at University of Manchester’s School of Economics.
She takes over from Richard Dingwall-Smith, who has been SWIP’s chief economist since 1998; Dingwall-Smith remains at SWIP in the role of senior economic advisor.
