UK's Hawksmoor Closes Ipswich Office, Opens Up In London

The South West-based investment manager has relocated its East Anglian base and established a presence in the capital.

Hawksmoor Investment Management has moved its East Anglian presence from Ipswich to Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, resulting in three redundancies. The firm has also opened an office in London.

The closure of the Ipswich office comes seven years on from Hawksmoor's acquisition of the investment management unit of what was then Ashton Graham solicitors in 2009. The redundancies relate to one investment manager and two support staff, the firm confirmed but gave no names.

“While we intend to remain firmly a West Country-based business, we are seeing some compelling opportunities in London, and having a foothold will enable us better to grow our business there,” said John Crowley, chief executive at Hawksmoor.

Among recent developments, the UK investment house launched Hawksmoor Fund Managers in January to distinguish its fund management business from its private client arm.
