UBS Strengthens Hong Kong Domestic Teams

UBS Hong Kong has made a number of appointments focused on further strengthening its domestic market coverage.

Executive director Freeman Ma is to be appointed desk head in HKT1, reporting to Becky Li. Ma joined HKT1 as a client advisor in 2002, bringing 10 years' experience at HSBC as a corporate dealer providing direct access services to wealth management clients.  In his new role, Freeman will lead and build a team of client advisors while continuing to manage his own portfolio, the firm said.

Jamee Wong, executive director, has been appointed as desk head in HKT2 and will report to Philip Mak.  Wong has been a client advisor at UBS since 2006. In his prior career he worked in the investment banking, equity capital markets and fixed income divisions of Goldman Sachs in New York and Hong Kong.

Managing director LienSeng Tan has also been named as desk head in HKT2, reporting to Mak. Tan is currently with IPS Capital Markets, specialising in equities and equity structured products. He first joined UBS in 1997 in London and rejoined the Swiss banking giant in 2008 as an ultra high net worth products and services consultant focusing on cross-asset class transactions. In the interim he was a fund manager at a long-short Asia hedge fund.

All three appointments are effective from 1 July 2013.

Also joining the HKT2 desk will be Crystal Wong, who will start as a client advisor, director, reporting to Kenny Pang.  Previously, Wong served as a relationship manager at Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan and DBS Private Bank.
