U.S. Trust hires ex-American Express private banker

A. Wallis returns to San Francisco -- and a much bigger BoA wealth division. U.S. Trust, Bank of America's wealth-management unit, has made former American Express executive Amanda Wallis market executive for northern California. Based in San Francisco, she will report to Tracy Brophy Warson, division executive for U.S. Trust's western U.S. region.

London and back

"Amanda is a proven leader on a global scale who has consistently demonstrated the ability to drive results and to manage successful teams of associates," says Warson. "Her strong ties to, and keen understanding of, the local communities will be invaluable as we work to help meet the unique and complex needs of our wealthy and ultra wealthy clients."

Wallis had been based in London as head of American Express Private Bank's business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. But her move to U.S. Trust is a kind of homecoming: prior to joining American express she held several leadership positions with the Private Bank of Bank of America in London and in San Francisco. Private Bank of Bank of America is now part of U.S. Trust.

Bank of America paid Schwab $3.3 billion for U.S. Trust and completed its acquisition in July 2007. -FWR
