Standard Chartered Names Singapore Banker For ASEAN Markets CEO Role

Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Singaporean Lim Cheng Teck as chief executive officer for its ASEAN markets.

Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Singaporean Lim Cheng Teck as chief executive for its ASEAN markets.

Lim will report to the UK-listed bank’s CEO for Asia, Jaspal Bindra.

The appointment comes as Standard Chartered has recently implemented a new structure of eight specific regions: ASEAN, Greater China, North East Asia, MENAP (Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan), South Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

The ASEAN markets comprise Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei and Australia.

Lim is currently CEO and executive vice chairman of Standard Chartered Bank (China); prior to this, he was CEO of the bank in Singapore. He takes up the new role on 1 May.
