StanChart Asia Widens Islamic Banking Reach Online

Standard Chartered Bank has offered greater access to its Islamic banking offerings by launching an Islamic version of its online banking platform.

Straight2Bank, the web-based platform under Standard Chartered, now provides Islamic banking clients branchless access to cash management, trade, securities services and reporting solutions. In a statement, the bank said that introducing Shariah compliant systems to Straight2Bank will help improve operating efficiency by enabling electronic and instantaneous financial services support.

"Today, the gap between conventional and Islamic banking solutions has narrowed significantly. Islamic banking has become a significant part of the mainstream," commented Wasim Saifi, global head of Islamic banking, consumer bank, and chief executive of Standard Chartered Saadiq Berhad.

The Shariah compliant platform will be available to customers across all segments in the UAE, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Pakistan and Malaysia.
