Senior Appointments At Baillie Gifford

Baillie Gifford, the Edinburgh-based investment partnership, has appoint three new partners with effect from 1 May 2013.

The new partners are: Spencer Adair, investment manager in the global alpha team; Kathrin Hamilton, director in the clients department responsible for North American clients; and Graham Laybourn, director of legal and regulatory risk. The firm will have a total of 39 partners will be from 1 May.

“At a time of widespread pessimism about the outlook for global growth, we are finding many attractive investment opportunities around the world. The appointments of Spencer, Kathrin and Graham to the partnership will help us to continue to capitalise on these opportunities for the long-term benefit of our clients,” Andrew Telfer, joint senior partner at Baillie Gifford, said in a statement.

Baillie Gifford employs 752 people and had assets under management of £85 billion (around $136 billion) as at 31 December 2012.
