Scottish Investment Firm Announces Fund Manager Promotion

Edinburgh-based investment firm Martin Currie has promoted Alan Porter to co-manager of its Global and Global Alpha retail funds.

Mr Porter joins David Sheasby in managing the £35 million ($57.2 million) Global fund, and will co-manage the  £23 million Global Alpha fund with James Fairweather.

Mr Porter, who has 17 years of experience in global equity markets, joined Martin Currie in September 2008 as a senior member of the global equity team. "Alan has had a great impact on the team and has earned the confidence of both his colleagues and investors. By taking shared responsibility for the management of our Global and Global Alpha funds, Alan will be better able to share our strategies with investors," said James Fairweather, Martin Currie’s chief investment officer, who has CIO overall responsibility for the firm’s global equity portfolios.

Martin Currie, which employs 46 investment professionals, manages £9.2 billion for clients worldwide, which include financial institutions, charities, foundations, pension funds and investment trusts.
