Global offshore law firm Walkers has appointed Carol Hall as partner in its Hong Kong office. She was previously general counsel at Fortis Prime Fund Solutions (Asia). The hire is part of a continued expansion of the firm’s practice in Asia reflecting the buoyant legal and financial market in the region. Also, Nick Rogers, a corporate attorney with a particular emphasis on investment funds who has been with Walkers since 2003, has been promoted to partner, also in the Hong Kong office. Walkers' Hong Kong office has expanded from two lawyers to nine lawyers in two years, and includes attorneys who are fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese. The firm has also announced plans to recruit at least six more lawyers to the office over the next year. Already strong in China and Hong Kong, Walkers has singled out its Tokyo practice for expansion, an especially strong prospect given the recent growth in the Japanese financial markets.
