Offshore legal and fiduciary services provider Ogier has promoted Nick Kershaw to the post of group chief executive as part of a management restructure.

Mr Kershaw was previously managing partner of Ogier’s Jersey legal business and has been a member of the group management board for the last six years. Having joined Ogier from Clifford Chance in 1993, he became a partner in 1997.

Ogier has also appointed Clive Chaplin to the post of non-executive group chairman.  Mr Chaplin, who joined the firm as a partner in 1994, was previously head of Ogier Jersey’s business trust and law group.

Helen Bunbury will continue as group chief operating officer, the firm said in a statement.

In October last year, Ogier opened new offices in Bahrain and Tokyo, adding to its existing offices in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, London, Montevideo and New Zealand.   

The group, which specialises in corporate and finance law along with associated fiduciary services, has some 850 employees around the world.
