Offshore Law Firm Beefs Up Team With Series Of Hires And Promotions

Offshore law firm Ogier has hired three new partners and made five internal promotions across its offshore offices.

Ogier has been busy expanding its team with the appointment of three new partners and five new managing associates.

David Cooney and Bradley Kruger will join as partners in the Cayman office and Michael Killourhy as partner in the British Virgin Islands office.

Cooney, who focuses on private clients, is also a chartered tax advisor, covering UK tax, trusts and estates; Kruger acts for clients on fields including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and redomiciliations, investment fund structuring, as well as regulatory matters. Finally, Killourhy advises on corporate transactions and restructuring, focusing on public and private mergers and acquisitions. His practice also covers cross-border joint ventures and emerging market investment, structured finance, corporate finance, financial reconstruction and investment funds.

“David, Brad and Michael will make very strong additions to our partnership. Their promotions recognise the valuable contributions they are making to the growth of our Caribbean practice and their success at providing outstanding client service,” said global managing partner Nick Kershaw.

Other movements within the partner scene include the relocation of partner Simon Schilder from the British Virgin Islands to Jersey, as a result of rising demand for British Virgin Islands services in the European time zone. Schilder's practice covers cross-border and multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and equity capital markets. He will continue to hold responsibilities with the BVI office and advise US funds on BVI law.

The five internal promotions to managing associates are Robert Christie and Christopher Newton from BVI; James Heinicke from Cayman; Sally Peedom from Guernsey and Laurent Thailly from Luxembourg.

Ogier employs over 350 people across their offices in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Jersey, Luxembourg, Shanghai and Tokyo.
