Chicago-based Northern Trust awarded $17.5 million in cash contributions to non-profit organisations in 2007 as part of its global corporate philanthropy programme, an increase of 13.7 per cent over the previous year. Northern Trust made a total of 2,668 gifts worldwide in 2007 to support a variety of social, educational and cultural causes and awarded more than $240,000 in gifts in-kind.
