Nomura Names Vice Chair For Risk And Regulation

Nomura Holdings has appointed David Benson as vice chairman of risk and regulatory affairs.

Benson has been the firm's chief risk officer since November 2008 and has spent over 11 years at Nomura in a range of roles, including as chief operating officer for Europe. As he moves into this newly-created position, he will remain a director of Nomura Europe, Nomura International, and Nomura Capital. His responsibilities include framing the firm's regulatory and government agenda, as well as providing senior management with advice on risk strategy.

His old position will be taken over by Lewis O'Donald, who previously served as senior risk officer for sales and trading at Morgan Stanley.

Headquartered in Japan, Nomura operates through three business divisions: retail, wholesale, and asset management. It employs 27,000 staff worldwide.
