New Capital Markets Head Named At OCBC

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, the Singaporean bank, has hired a former Standard Chartered executive to become its new head of capital markets.
Tan Kee Phong will oversee the debt capital markets and loan syndication team at OCBC, bringing with him some 20 years of industry experience. Prior to the appointment, Tan was head of capital markets in Singapore at Standard Chartered Bank. He also worked at Citicorp Investment Bank for 16 years. News his departure from Standard Chartered was announced in early July 2013.
In this new role, Tan reports to Gan Kok Kim, the head of group investment banking at OCBC. He replaces Sim Buck Khim and Mark Yeo, who co-headed the capital markets division. Khim now heads the debt capital markets team, while Yeo heads the loan syndication unit.
OCBC just recently unveiled its after-tax net profit for the first half of 2013 at S$1.29 billion ($1 billion), down 13 per cent from the year-earlier period.
