International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has bolstered its private client practice in London with the addition of Astrid Owen as partner.

Owen joins the firm from Withers, where she had also been a partner. She specialises in creating cross-border wealth-holding structures for high net worth families, along with structuring family businesses through the use of trusts, foundations and holding companies. Her experience ranges across Europe, the Middle East and the US.

McDermott’s European arm has offices in Brussels, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, Munich and Rome, as well as London. In the US it has bases in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orange County, Silicon Valley and Washington, DC. In Asia, the firm has its own office in Seoul as well as a strategic alliance with MWE China Law Offices in Shanghai.

Overall, McDermott has a staff of 60 lawyers and 20 non-lawyer professionals.
