Martin Currie To See Asia-Pacific Fund Manager Depart

Richard Evans has resigned from his position as co-manager of Martin Currie’s Asia-Pacific fund and is set to leave the UK-listed firm on 30 September.

Evans, who has been with the Edinburgh boutique since 2004, has decided to leave the fund management industry.

As a replacement, Paul Danes will move to the Asia team, where he joins Jason McCay and Andrew Graham.  Before joining Martin Currie’s Japan team in 2007, Danes managed Japanese funds for Nordea Investment Funds in Luxembourg, and for Deutsche Bank Asset Management in London and Tokyo.

Martin Currie’s Japan team comprises five specialists, and the company is reportedly looking to bolster it further with a new hire in the coming months.

Martin Currie managed £10.4 billion (about $16.7 billion) in equity portfolios at the end of March this year.
