Martin Currie Strengthens North American Equities Team

UK-based equity manager Martin Currie has hired Penny Kyle as an investment director for its North American equities team, while David Forsyth transfers to the equity income group as a senior analyst.

Kyle, with “extensive” experience in North American equities, will work alongside Tom Walker as co-manager on the firm’s North American portfolios. Meanwhile, Forsyth will help support the team in an area where demand for strategies “continues to grow” - most notably the Global Equity Income fund, the firm said in a statement.

The firm also said Kyle's appointment reflects its commitment to ensuring that its flagship North American strategy has the “best resources possible”.

Kyle was formerly head of US equities for five years at Kuwait Investment Office. Before that, she spent three years as head of North American equities at Morley Fund Management.

The addition of Kyle follows the appointments last month of Matthew Franklin and Gavin MacGregor, as global head of industrials and utilities research, and senior research analyst for healthcare respectively.

Additionally, last week the firm announced that Mike Gibb is relocating from its Edinburgh headquarters to become director of sales and client services for Asia, based in Singapore.
