Martin Currie Connects To Calastone Network

Edinburgh-based investment management firm Martin Currie has agreed to offer its funds via the Calastone transaction network.
Calastone’s network provides connectivity to fund distributors and aggregators through a single connection, creating fully electronic straight through processing throughout the transaction lifecycle. Firms can also use their preferred messaging protocol as the network features a universal message communication and translation service.
According to Calastone, fund providers using the network are able to lower costs, gain control and visibility of their order flow, and enhance their ability to react to exceptions quickly and efficiently.
“At Martin Currie we believe that choice and competition can only benefit the market as a whole by driving down cost and encouraging innovation. We are pleased to offer our funds via Calastone and are confident that their transaction network will continue to attract an increasing number of fund distributors and transfer agents,” said Andy Sowerby, managing director of marketing, distribution, and Product Management at Martin Currie.
Calastone has said it is its ultimate aim to offer the entire mutual funds industry complete front-to-back STP regardless of participants’ incumbent technology or connectivity preference.
Last month Calastone added Nucleus, an online wrap based business platform backed by some 60 IFAs, along with UK-listed wealth manager Brewin Dolphin to its network.
